The Repertory Theatre – Seaside is about to unleash another exciting lineup of Spring Break programming with a little of something for everyone.
There will be outdoor performances of Pinocchio and The Tales of King Arthur, late night performances of Awkward Oxen Improv Hour, the return of comedy heavy hitter Dusty Slay on his newest comedy album release tour, more concerts than you can shake a stick at and a fantastic two-man comedy about success.
30A becomes a kid’s Spring Break domain during March and April.
Kids will delight in an updated, fast paced version of the classic tale of Pinocchio at the Seaside Amphitheater every Monday at 6 p.m. If they have a spark of drama, Improv Bootcamp is the place for them. They’ll learn the ropes of improv comedy, just like the popular television show, “Whose Line is it Anyway?” and then be able to show off their new skills for their friends and family. Each weekday, kids of all ages can catch Stories by the Sea at 3:30 p.m. in Solomon Square where REP actors will create a one of a kind story on the spot. Those with a thirst for adventure will be enchanted to see The Tales of King Arthur each Wednesday at 6 p.m. at North Barrett Square in Rosemary Beach. A family friendly Awkward Oxen Improv Hour and Adventures in Alys are held each week at Fonville Press, where dramatic spontaneity compliments the fun and casual coffee shop setting.
Although there’s a lot of kid-friendly fun at The REP this Spring Break, there’s a lot going on for the grown-ups!
NBC’s Last Comic Standing comedian, Dusty Slay, is returning to The REP from April 4 – 6 for three 9 p.m stand-up comedy shows.
Slay has appeared on Laughs on FOX, TMZ, Sirius XM, Pandora Radio, The Bob and Tom Radio Show, among many others. For those who who can’t get enough laughs, The REP’s fast paced interactive late night Awkward Oxen Improv Hour returns Tuesdays through Thursdays from March 21 to 30 at 9 p.m.
From April 20 to the 30, be sure to catch BIG BOYS, a two-character comedy written by REP favorite Rich Orloff. The REP’s Artistic Associate Aubrey Ainsworth said, “It is absolutely amazing to see two incredibly talented and innovative performers once again sharing The REP stage. Brook Stetler and Bruce Collier bring BIG BOYS to life in such a captivating way that it will have people talking about it for years to come.” BIG BOYS portrays the relationship between a self-satisfied, grandiose, amoral and very successful boss, and his insecure, moral, eager-to-please and very unhappy assistant. Influenced by the surreal energy and comic rhythms of vaudeville comedy, BIG BOYS is an over-the-top comic fable about what men value and what they’ll do to get it.
The LIVE@TheREP Spring Concert Series is sure to please singer-songwriter enthusiasts throughout the genres. Aubrey Ainsworth said, “Our intimate venue and low-key atmosphere, live music has the perfect home at The REP, giving both our audiences and musical guests an experience that you cannot find anywhere else.” The clogging April Verch Band, the 30A Songwriter favorite Charlie Mars, the earthy folk married couple The Mosleys, the powerful lyricist Griffin House, REP favorite Jeff Black and Grammy nominated musician Kim Richey are all schedule to appear through May 20th.
