SANTA ROSA BEACH — The sun beat down on the track behind Emerald Coast Middle School. It was hot. Not unseasonably so, but hot enough runners and fans alike sought shelter under pop-up tents. Others milled about the grounds with snow cones in hand or stretched, preparing for coming races.
