Let’s be real, Mondays are usually the worst. But they’re a whole lot better when you have a fresh crop of new songs to jam to! Meet this week’s additions…
- Liam Payne ft. J. Balvin – Familiar
I challenge you to try not to dance to this the next time it pops on in the car…it simple can’t be done. (Not for me, at least) Have we found this summer’s “Despacito?” Looks likely and I’m 100% down with it.
2. Ariana Grande – No Tears Left to Cry
This is Ari’s first new track since 2016 and since the horrific bombing during her “Dangerous Woman” tour stop in Manchester. While I really want to root for her, I’d be lying if I said this track didn’t underwhelm me. The girl has some serious pipes, but they’re not really put to much use in this one.
3. Drake – Nice for What
Move over “God’s Plan,” this might actually be my new favorite Drake song. The music video alone is a phenomenal showcase of women of all varieties being their amazing selves and living life. Not to mention this song knocked his previous single off to take the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Not bad, Drizzy.
4. Bad Wolves – Zombie
I’m not sure what to say about this one other than that if you were even a small fan of the Cranberries, it’s probably going to gut you right in the feelings. The song was originally meant to be a collaboration with Bad Wolves and singer Dolores O’Riordan. Tragically, O’Riordan passed away on the very day she was set to record her vocals on this cover. None the less, Bad Wolves have done a tremendous job of honoring her with this one and I’m thrilled to have it on the airwaves. Listen. Have deep feels. Repeat.
5. The Weeknd – Call Out My Name
Lastly, the Weeknd lives up the theme of his latest album with this one. Melancholy is an understatement. For real, I haven’t quite decided if I dig this one or not. I’m pretty sure we’re all thinking the same thing though…Hi, Selena?
