What’s Happening in South Walton in August

Spotlight Events:

Aug. 1: Around the World with FOOW: 6:30-9 p.m.

Put your hula skirts on and get ready to dance your way through the Polynesian islands. Enjoy a coastal-inspired tropical meal with hula dancers and Polynesian music. $75-plus per person featuring a 4-5 course dining experience and one alcoholic beverage: Pineapple Rum Float. Reservations preferred. *Service charge and sales tax not included.

 

Aug. 2: SoWal Craft Beer & Spirits Festival: 4-8 p.m.

Move over summer heat, the SoWal Craft Beer and Spirits Festival is back! Held at Shades Bar & Grill, this second annual event will feature more than 60 craft beers, ciders, Florida distilled craft spirits, rose wine and mimosas. Beer and spirit experts will be on-hand to share their knowledge, in addition to food samplings provided by Shades Bar and Grill, Pescado Seafood Grill and Rooftop Bar, Southside Slice, Shaka Sushi and Noodle Bar, and a live DJ. *Admission: $30-50.

 

Aug. 6: Solaris Yacht Sunset, Fireworks, Dinner and Dancing Cruise: 6:30-9:30 p.m.

While the SOLARIS cruises the local waters, guests will enjoy a three-course meal that begins with freshly baked bread and crisp salad. Entrée choices include Beef Filet Mignon topped with Shrimp or Jumbo Lump Crab, Gulf Shrimp and Grits, Bronzed Gulf Fish of the Day topped with Shrimp or Jumbo Lump Crab, Caribbean Glazed Chicken, Southern Crab Cakes or Harvest Vegetables. The meal concludes with Chef’s Specialty Dessert. * Adults: $79; children (2-10): $38; infants: $20.

 

Aug. 7: Sandestin Family Fishing Tournament: 12-1:30 p.m.

Head out to the Baytowne Marina and see if you can reel in the big one at Sandestin’s Family Fishing Tournament. The family that catches the biggest fish (must bring photo proof to bait shop) wins a prize.

 

Aug. 8: Wine Social at Pescado with Master Sommelier Craig Collins: 1-3 p.m.

Pescado in Rosemary Beach will be hosting a unique and exclusive event featuring one of only 112 Master Sommeliers in the world – Craig Collins. Guests will enjoy complimentary wine as well as cheese and charcuterie. The walk around event will be open to 80 guests only. Aug. 10: Autos in August at The Village of Baytowne Wharf: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Join The Village of Baytowne Wharf and Emerald Coast Customes for a day of fun, sun, and cars. Prizes will be awarded. Visitors are welcome to walk around The Village of Baytowne Wharf and look at the cars.

 

Aug. 14: Foster Gallery Ruskin Place Fall Artist Reception: 5-7 p.m.

Please join us for a reception honoring the local CAA Member Artists chosen for our 2019 Fall Rotation at The Foster Gallery in the Ruskin Place Artist Colony in Seaside. Meet the artists and stroll the gallery while enjoying tasty sips and snacks. The Ruskin Place Spring Rotation is scheduled to run through Oct. 27.

 

Aug. 22: Bubbly Baytowne: 5-7 p.m.

Join us for an evening full of FREE champagne and shopping during our Bubbly Baytowne. Sip and Shop through the village streets! Stop in various retail merchants as you enjoy a selection of premium champagnes. * This event is free and for 21 and up only. The village will be open to the public during this event.

 

Aug. 22: 6th Annual FFT Stock the Pantry Party: 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Mark your calendars and start your food drives! The 6th Annual Stock the Pantry Party will be Aug. 22 at the Santa Rosa Beach Pantry. To register your team in the food drive competition please email Support@fftfl.org.

 

Aug. 27: The Next Big Thing: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Join the Walton Area Chamber of Commerce for The Next BIG Thing at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort. At this event over 350 attendees will come together for a fun day of networking, professional development and inspiration.

The event will showcase dynamic speakers, addressing topics beneficial to empowering women professionally and personally, emerging and existing entrepreneurs and leadership development. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear two national keynote speakers and attend four TED Talk-style breakout sessions.

Enjoy a delectably tasteful breakfast and lunch as well as a cocktail hour to conclude the day. Cocktail hour will feature delicious appetizers. An exhibitor showcase will be featured where you’ll have the opportunity to shop from local businesses.

 

 

Aug. 29: Dog Days of Summer at Grand Boulevard: 6-8 p.m.

Grab your fur-baby and join Grand Boulevard for a doggie social in Grand Park where you’ll enjoy live music, raffle prizes and plenty of people and puppy treats. Please no prong collars.

 

Aug. 29: 6th Annual Stake & Burger Dinner: 6-9 p.m.

Join the Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast for the 6th Annual Stake & Burger Dinner at the Hilton Sandestin featuring keynote speaker and NFL Hall of Famer, Derrick Brooks. General admission tickets are $125 and include admission to this event, a build your own burger bar, a drink ticket the opportunity to win and bid on incredible raffle and silent auction items.

VIP tickets are $175 which include all that the general admission tickets provide plus admission to the VIP reception. The reception is set for 5-6 p.m. until the start of the event and gives attendees the opportunity to mingle with one of the best linebackers in NFL History.

This Summer, The REP continues our popular children’s Improv Bootcamp sessions. Through these sessions, students learn all the basics of improv by focusing on teamwork, creativity, and thinking outside the box. Students as a young as 5 get to be onstage, learning and performing for their friends and family with The REP’s talented actor/teachers.

Outdoor Theatre: ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ at Grand Boulevard: 7-10 p.m.

Emerald Coast Theatre Company presents an adaptation of “Much Ado About Nothing.” Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy Shakespeare under the stars at the Grand Park in Grand Boulevard. This hilarious comedy is about misunderstandings, love and deception. The course of true love never did run smooth. To add to the fun Abrakadoodle will offer a themed kid’s craft pre-show at 7 p.m. In the event of rain, join us at the ECTC theatre upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard. Seaside Farmer’s Market at Seaside Amphitheatre: 9 a.m.

Seaside Farmers Market takes place in the Seaside Amphitheater every Saturday rain or shine 9 a.m.-12p.m.! Seaside Farmers Market is on a mission to educate the public about sustainable practices by providing a well-rounded, green living experience. Vendors offer farm fresh, locally grown produce, homemade baked goods, beef from happy cows, heirloom seeds, artisan breads and cheeses, organic eggs, preserves, and doggie treats, to name a few.

Orvis Fly Fishing 101 at Orvis Sandestin: 9:50 a.m.

Learn fly-fishing basics in one of Orvis’ free Fly Fishing 101 classes. Perfect for beginners of all ages. Fly Fishing 101 will provide you with free lessons on fly casting and outfit rigging. Each participant will receive special offers on the essential equipment needed to get started. Classes held every Saturday.

30A Farmer’s Market in Rosemary Beach: 9 a.m.
