Santa Rosa tourism council member charged with Sunshine Law violation

PENSACOLA — A Santa Rosa County Tourist Development Council member has been charged with a noncriminal violation of the Florida Government in the Sunshine Law, according to a press release from the State Attorney’s Office.

According to the charging documents, 67-year-old John Herrick Sanborn, Jr. unlawfully engaged in a discussion or exchange of information with other members of the council regarding a matter which “foreseeably could come before the board or commission for action” outside of a public meeting.

The violation occurred between June 1-30 of this year. The violation is punishable by a maximum fine of $500.

The Tourist Development Council is volunteer board made up of representatives in the local tourism industry. Sanborn is president of Adventures Unlimited in Milton and is the north end appointee of the six-member council.

Sanborn has a court date scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 5 in Santa Rosa County.
