DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla— Inmates in Walton County will now be able to connect with friends and family easier, faster, and more safely.

Starting December 7th Walton County Sheriff’s Office will change jail phone system to Telmate and the GettingOut platform. Friends and loved ones of those incarcerated at the Walton County Jail will be able to communicate to an inmate via messaging, phone, and video visitation.

Friends and family wishing to communicate with inmates should now visit www.GettingOut.com to set up a communications account. In addition, you can also stop by at the Walton County Jail lobby at 796 Triple G Rd, Defuniak Springs, Florida, 32433, to use the GettingOut kiosk.  Alternatively, friends and family can download the free “GettingOut by Telmate” mobile app for Android or iOS.

Free on-site visitation will be Monday through Saturday 8am-12pm and 1pm-5pm. All other visitation done at the jail will be charged normal rates. Visitation sessions can be up to 30 minutes in length. Phone calls can be up to 15 minutes in length.

Visitation will be down on Tuesday, December 5th and Wednesday, December 6th, but will resume of the 7th. Phones will still be available.
