PANAMA CITY BEACH — MTV announced Monday it will renew “MTV Floribama Shore,” a reality television show based in Panama City Beach, for a second season.

The network made the announcement Monday, the same day as the finale episode for Season 1. The show, which premiered Nov. 27, 2017, ran for eight episodes in its first season.

MTV said the show’s premiere was the “highest rated series premiere in over three years.” According to the network, 846,000 viewers aged 18-34 tuned in for the series’ launch.

The show follows eight 20-somethings who live in a house together and documents their shenanigans along the Emerald Coast most of which occur in bars and at beaches.

“Set in the Florida Panhandle along the beach that stretches all the way to Alabama, ‘MTV Floribama Shore’ is the story of eight young adults who come to spend the summer in the hottest beach town on the Gulf Coast, Panama City Beach, to party it up and put the real world on hold for just a little bit longer,” the network said in a press release. “This coming of age story captures the very real thrill and angst of being young and trying to figure out the future with a group of people you’ll come to call family.”

Season two is set to run 20 episodes and will premiere sometime this summer.

The cast members, who range in age from 21 to 25, hail from Florida, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.
