SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla— Spring Break is right around the corner and Friday Walton County Sheriff’s Office met with businesses and property managers to talk tactics.

WCSO will be setting up a command post at Seascape Resort behind Whale’s Tale in Miramar Beach starting March 3rd to enforce underage drinking violations and other criminal mischief pertaining to crowds gathering during spring break.

On March 31st the command post will be relocated to Seaside for the start of high school spring break.

Different than years past, WCSO will be implementing a house party task force that will operate on a nightly basis.

“We’ve identified this as a necessary addition to our spring break operations,” said Lieutenant Scott Hogeboom. “These instances took up a lot of our resources last year. This effort is aimed at keeping our juveniles safe and to prevent damage to rental properties.”

Walton County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind residents and visitors to lock their vehicles –not just during spring break – but all year long.
