PONCE DE LEON — The Walton County Sheriff’s Office has positively identified two bodies that were found after a house fire March 29.

Raymond Leon Yancey, 61, and Rebecca Rushing-Barker, 55, were killed in the fire, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Walton County Fire Rescue and sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on County Road 181-C in the early morning following a frantic 911 call from a relative. The home was engulfed in flames when deputies and firefighters arrived. Two bodies were found later inside.

The fire was deemed suspicious and is still under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Rushing-Barker had been convicted of two counts of felony arson on Feb. 8, less than two months before the Ponce de Leon fire.

More information will be released when it is available, the Sheriff’s Office said.
