Which Diet Is Right For You?  Maybe NONE of Them!

Have you ever been on a diet? There are certainly plenty of them to choose from. In fact, the list of diets on Wikipedia numbers over 90! Maybe the current popular trend of going keto is working for you. Or maybe being vegan both fuels your body and feeds your soul. Alternatively, you might consider the Blood Type diet, the Zone diet, Sugar Busters, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutri-System, or any one of a number of prepared and packaged programs that do the thinking for you.

I’d like to caution you, however, about diets that have a narrow focus or those that eliminate many items. They’re out of balance. You won’t receive the benefits you need from what you’re not eating. And those that come prepared and packaged can lack essential nutrients and enzymes necessary for good health.

It’s time to forget about diets. Too often, diets are simply temporary states of deprivation during which you obsess over the things you are depriving yourself. Improving eating habits combined with exercise is the most effective way to achieve and maintain positive health. Putting it into consistent practice remains the tough part. As adults, we often struggle with habits we developed earlier in life. What we need is a natural inclination to choose well; what we typically have is a whole lot of bad habits and wavering willpower.

You are a deliberately designed and engineered miracle with a body that has specific internal programming. What your body needs is REAL foods eaten the RIGHT way.  Maybe instead of trying yet another diet, consider nutrition education as a means to your goal. Learning the basics of the digestive system combined with understanding the physiology of nutrient absorption can make it easier to implement good choices that can help you achieve and maintain your health goals.
