Topsail Hill Preserve State Park Hosts a “Pumpkin Paddle”

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for a Pumpkin Paddle on October 27, 2018 from 8:30a.m.-11:30a.m.  Experience Campbell Lake on a ninety minute Ranger guided paddling tour.  Participants must be experienced canoers/kayakers over 12 yrs old.  For those that can’t attend this guided paddle, Moonlight Paddles return in November. Future dates for the Moonlight Paddles are November 21, 2018, December 21, 2018 and January 19, 2019 4:30 – 7:30pm and February 18, 2019 and March 20, 2019 5:30 – 8:30pm.  Morning guided paddles will return in April 2019. Save the dates! Program is $40 per person. Space is limited. Advanced online registration is required and can be done at www.topsailparkfriends.org. Program fee includes watercraft rental, PFD, paddle, park admission fee, water/juice, a mini pumpkin, a special surprise, tram ride to Campbell Lake and a donation to the Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. Program is weather dependent.

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for good ol’ family friendly stories around the campfire on October 20, 2018 from 6:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. Be sure to arrive before the gates close at sunset. Event is free with regular park admission.

TOPSAIL HILL PRESERVE STATE PARK CELEBRATES NATIONAL ASTRONOMY DAY 

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and the Northwest Florida Astronomy Association (NWFASTRO) in celebrating National Astronomy Day. Come for “Topsail Under the Stars,” an evening of viewing the sun, moon and stars through telescopes on October 13, 2018 from 3:00p.m. to 9:00p.m.  Solar telescopes will be out until the sun sets for you to safely view the sun. Then the astronomy association will switch telescopes and assist you in viewing any constellations, planets and other celestial objects that are visible. The program is weather dependent, and a decision is made by 2:00pm the day of the program as to whether the program can occur. Please call the ranger station before heading out for the program. Participants need to be in the park before the gate closes at sunset so please be in the park by 6:00p.m. Event is free with regular park admission.

TOPSAIL HILL PRESERVE STATE PARK PRESENTS “COASTAL DUNE LAKES”

A PART OF TOPSAIL TALKS: AN EDUCATIONAL DISCOVERY SERIES

Join Topsail Hill Preserve State Park and the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance on October 19, 2018 from 10:00a.m. – 11:00a.m. Come learn about the rare Coastal Dune Lakes,, a unique wonder right here in South Walton. This program is free with regular park admission. Topsail Talks is a monthly educational discovery series with presentations from organizations and government agencies from outside the park on the third Friday of the month at 10am in the clubhouse.  Future dates and topics are “Pirates, the Scourge of the Gulf” by the Florida Public Archaeology Network on November 16, “Coyotes” by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on December 21 and “Marine Animals” by the Gulfarium on January 18, 2019.
