XoXo: The “Worst Sound Installation Ever…”

If you thought the world’s love affair with Toto’s “Africa” was over…then you have been mistaken.

Earlier this year, the “Africa” fever began after a fan requested that alternative radio darlings Weezer offer their own version of the classic. After much teasing and a “Rosanna” fake out, Rivers Cuomo and crew finally obliged and earned themselves a massive chart and radio hit in the process.

Months later, Namibian artist Max Siedentopf has taken it to a whole other level by installing a permanent fixture in the Namibian desert that will play Toto’s original “Africa” on a loop for all of eternity…or until the installation falls apart.

“I wanted to pay the song the ultimate homage and physically exhibit Africa in Africa,” said Siedentopf. He says locals have had mixed reactions to the project. “Some Namibians love it and others say it’s the worst sound installation of all time. I think that’s a great compliment.”

*insert meme of Xhibit saying “Yo dawg, we heard u like Africa so we put Africa on forever in Africa.”*

Bless the rains down in Africa.
