BRUCE, Fla — Walton County Fire Rescue battles a blaze engulfing a mobile home in Bruce early Saturday morning.

At 7:34 a.m. on Saturday, September 28th, a 911 call promptly dispatched Walton County Fire Rescue firefighters and Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies to a residential fire on County Highway 3280 in Bruce. The caller reported seeing flames consuming an abandoned mobile home nearby. First responders arrived on scene to find the mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

WCSO deputies shut down County Highway 3280 while firefighters worked to knock down the residential fire. WCFR battled the blaze for nearly 30 minutes before the fire was extinguished.

“These men and women did a great job this morning,” says Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “With it being so dry out, the fire could have quickly spread into the woods nearby, but their swift action kept the fire contained.”smoke coming from pile of what's left of a mobile home after a structure fire

The State Fire Marshal’s Office was contacted and will be investigating the cause of the fire.
