Against the Glass, women’s historical fiction, set in New York City, Paris, and Florence between 1966 and the 1980s, was born right here in Walton County. Before writing, however, twelve-year resident of Miramar Beach, Linda M. Habib had engaged in many volunteer activities, her favorite being Turtle Watch. Twice a week, between May and October, she’d comb the beach at first light on the lookout for sea turtle tracks, a sign of possible nests, to report to the group leader for investigation. During the 2010 oil spill, she helped unearth nests and prepare the eggs for transport to Florida’s East Coast for their safety.

Her efforts with golf and gardening were less than successful.

Linda decided to get back to her roots —  high school English teacher with dreams of writing a novel. She discovered local writing groups meeting in Seaside, Rosemary Beach, and the Walton County Coastal Branch Library, where, to her delight, her indie debut can now be found.

At its heart, Against the Glass is a story of forgiveness and redemption. What happens when a naïve nineteen-year-old makes choices that invite tragedy? That’s where Candy’s story begins.

Kirkus Reviews says, “At the end of the story, readers find a character of remarkable strength and empathy.”

Diane Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review, writes, “Against the Glass is highly recommended because, in order to understand the present, it’s essential that the decisions and impact of decades past are fully understood. New adult readers fresh to these experiences and social atmospheres will find Against the Glass hard-hitting, enlightening, and revealing.

An Amazon purchaser writes, “I picked up Against the Glass by Linda Habib because I was looking for an emotional outlet and I can wholeheartedly say that it did not disappoint.”

On Monday, February 28, Walton County Coastal Branch Library at 437 Greenway Trail, Santa Rosa Beach, is hosting a Local Author Meet & Greet and book signing from 1to 3pm. Refreshments will be served.

Look for Against the Glass on Amazon, or ask for it at bookstores, and the library.
