Habitat for Humanity of Walton County, FL Announces Annual Women’s Empowerment Event

On Friday, May 6, The Merchants of Rosemary Beach happily present Walton County Habitat’s 4th Annual Hard Hats & High Heels Luncheon. Join us at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort in the Linkside Ballroom, adjacent to the Sunset Bay Café, from 11am – 1pm.

Give the perfect Mother’s Day gift of food and fun to your mother, daughter, or best friend. Ladies are invited to network with and celebrate the achievements of their peers. This year’s event showcases keynote speaker Retired Colonel Gilda Jackson, a silent auction, games, prizes, an awards presentation, complimentary Sandestin Real Estate cocktail (21+), Southern Glazer’s Wine Pull, and more. Take the opportunity to wear your favorite heels!

Upon event check in, guests will receive a swag bag, generously donated by South Walton Florida. Businesses, including Clay 30A, The Merchants of Rosemary Beach, Silver Sands Premium Outlets, Community Bank, Bay Breeze Patio, and Shunk Gulley Oyster Bar, chose to provide fun gifts for all attendees. Throughout the event, Shauna Magnuson of Davista Photography will be capturing candids of the festivities!

Prior to lunch being served, patrons will engage in the ever popular “Home is the Key” and “She Nailed It!” competitions. Winners of these activities receive one prize package, generously donated by companies such as Embassy Suites by Hilton Destin Miramar Beach, The Hilton Sandestin, Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, Silver Sands Premium Outlets, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, and more. While waiting for their turn to play, participants may snag their Epic Photo Co print or peruse the silent auction. Featured artists include: Lola’s on 30A, Jennifer Jones of Compass Builders of Florida, Unforgettable Glass Act, Maxine Orange Art, and Mary Hong Studio.

For lunch, Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort is plating a crisp salad featuring grilled chicken breast, Chef’s Choice fresh fruit, and farm vegetables. Guests will indulge in the sweet zing of a key lime tart for dessert. Attendees may also partake in the cash bar. Centerpieces at each table will include plants generously donated by Clay 30A. During lunch, the audience will have the opportunity to hear from Retired Colonel Gilda Jackson. Walton County Habitat will also present this year’s Glamour to the Hammer and Veronica Macias Power Woman of the Year awards, custom created by Velia Lala Designs. The 2022 Power Woman is nominated by the community for her incredible leadership and dedication to Habitat for Humanity of Walton County, FL.

The community may support this fundraising event through the acquisition of tickets or a Women Build 2022 V-Neck T-Shirt. All proceeds raised from the silent auction, games, merchandise, tickets, and sponsorships will go directly to Walton County Habitat’s Women Build 2022 initiative to help build homes for single mothers who serve as the head of their households.
