The Emerald Coast Meditation Society Welcomes Zen Master Claude AnShin Thomas to speak : OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

TOPIC: Meditation and Daily Life are Not Two Things
“Meditation is not just something we do while seated on a cushion or in a meditation hall, it’s a way of living. The practice of meditation can be present and support us in all things, in every moment, like a life jacket that keeps us from drowning. Without it we sink into the sea of samsara, the sea of our confusion and suffering.”

About Claude AnShin Thomas
Claude AnShin Thomas is a fully ordained Zen Buddhist monk, Vietnam Veteran and author of the books At Hell’s Gate: A Soldier’s Journey from War to Peace and Bringing Meditation to Life. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Army and served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter crew chief. Since that time, he has worked to heal the wounds of war -emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Ordained in Auschwitz’s in 1994, he walked on pilgrimage from Auschwitz to Vietnam, begging for alms along the way in the ancient tradition of takuhatsu. He has walked several other pilgrimages since then in the United States and Europe.
