“This is the first time I’ve had good bread in America in 30 years,” Delphine Debono matter-of- factly announced in her French accent as she made her way to the front door of Black Bear Bread Company located in a charming white cottage at Shops of Grayton. 

Though you may find him fishing, you won’t likely ever find Chef David Bishop fishing for compliments.

Hardworking, focused and self-effacing, Bishop would rather be nearly anywhere than in the spotlight. Not surprisingly, the place he is most at home, most relaxed and happy is in his kitchen at Bud & Alley’s Waterfront Restaurant in Seaside, which is where we caught up with him recently between lunch and dinner service.

Award-winning Miramar Beach artist Kathleen Broaderick has a right to crow. Her plucky, proud red and blue “Patriot Rooster” painting has enabled her to strut her stuff onto the national art scene.
