Walton County Public Beach Access in Jeopardy

The Blue Lupine Way public beach access (Easement) has been used by the general public for over 25 years. Accessible off 30A via Redfish Circle, the beach access was upheld in a 1998 court ordered Settlement Agreement with the terms of construction of condos, now called Blue Mountain Beach Condominiums, along with 5 public parking spaces. As stated in the DRI planning provisions: “Developer hereby gives and grants a non-exclusive Easement, for the benefit of the general public, for limited purposes only of pedestrian and vehicular ingress, egress, and access, over and across the walkway, biking path, and roadway on and across the Properties and across The Club Property, leading directly from the public way to the beach, and; now or hereafter used or necessary for direct access to the beach, for purposes of public beach access, and for no other purpose.” However, in recent years, obstacles have been placed on or around this access, in the form of gates, signs, and as some access users state, “harassment” to discourage the use of the steps and boardwalk to the beach. “We are at the most critical time yet to keep our easement open to the public, said Diane Wright. We retained legal counsel who worked really hard on this and uncovered some key documents that the County has not seen that legal believes could be a game changer.” June 22nd is a showdown date, when the Blue Mountain Beach Condo Association and advocates for the access will face off over... Jonah Allen to Host Grand Opening of 30A Gallery

Local artist, Jonah Allen, is set to open his 30A gallery, located at 4771 E County Hwy 30A, Unit B101, with a grand opening celebration on Thursday, June 22 from 5-8 p.m. After opening his first studio in 2021, Allen knew he wanted to bring his work closer to the east end of 30A where he lives. The new space is 1,060 square feet and showcases 20 of Allen’s signature photographic works that focus on the dynamic relationship between water and light. Each piece is unique and offers a different perspective in order to challenge the viewer’s eye on how they look and perceive water. “Whether you appreciate abstract expressionism, contemporary realism, or intricate installations, I promise you will find something to inspire and ignite your imagination,” Allen said.” The grand opening celebration will give guests the exclusive opportunity to meet Allen and discover the stories behind his creations, gain insight into his creative process, and engage in conversation with the artist himself. Guests will indulge in heavy hors d’oeuvres by The Salty Butcher and Swiftly Catered, along with refreshments from local purveyors including Campesino Rum, Gulf Water Wines, Idyll Hounds Brewing Company, Palm Folly, and wine by Wild Olives throughout the evening. While exploring the space and viewing the various works, the gallery will be filled with music from DJ Dad and live décor by Clay 30A.
