EMERALD COAST THEATRE COMPANY ADDS A NEW OFFERING TO ITS 2017 CHILDREN’S SUMMER THEATER CAMP SERIES

Miramar Beach, Fla. (June 1, 2017) — Due to popular demand, Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) — a non-profit professional theater company founded in Miramar Beach, Florida in 2012 by Nathanael and Anna Fisher — is adding another offering to its 2017 Children’s Summer Theater Camp Series, bringing the total to 14 programs offered throughout the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast.

The new offering is “Treasure Island” and will be held July 17-21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bay Elementary in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla. It is open to grades 2-8 and is $170 per person.

The June 5-9 “Treasure Island” session from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. held at ECTC’s space in Grand Boulevard is now sold out.

Space remains for the July 10-14 “Treasure Island” session from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City. Extended drop off/pick up available from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Tuition $170.

ECTC Camps run different weeks from June 5 through July 29, Tuition is from $130 per person for “Little Rascals” to $425 for the Musical Theatre Camp plus a $25 registration fee. Payment plans, military, sibling, and multi-camp discounts and scholarships are available.

Children ages 4-6 will have the opportunity to explore acting, singing and movement in an energetic, nurturing environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. Children will prepare material throughout the week that will be presented to parents on the final day of the class. Bring water and a snack each day.

Ahoy, me hearties! Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale is adapted just for your child’s summer adventure. Long John Silver and his talking parrot welcome all second through eighth graders to join their pirate crew. Bring a water, snack and lunch each day and join your children for a final performance on the last day of camp.

Calling all second through eighth graders, to let the rhythm get you! Come act, sing, and dance your heart out to popular Broadway tunes as we learn songs and simple choreography to some of the most popular musical numbers in show business. Play theater games and watch some classic musicals on film. Watch out parents we’ll surely wow you with a performance the last day of camp. Bring a water, snack and a lunch each day.

Disney’s “Cinderella Kids” Musical Theater Camp (3rd through 9th grade)
Arnold High School Theater, Panama City Beach
June 12-July 1 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (skipping Saturday and Sunday); extended drop off/pick up available from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Disney’s “Cinderella Kids” Musical Theater Camp (3rd through 9th grade)

This three-week camp gives ECTC instructors time with your young thespian to train them even more with stage presence, acting techniques and theater games. Poor Cinderella is endlessly mistreated by her wicked stepmother and stepsisters, and denied a chance to go to the royal ball. With a little help from her mice friends — and a lot of help from her Fairy Godmother — Cinderella’s dreams come true. She goes to the ball, meets the Prince and falls in love! Final performances the Friday evening and Saturday morning of the last week of camp. Bring a water, snack and a lunch each day.

Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) Middle/High School Workshop
ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach
June 11-16 Sunday, 2-6 p.m.; Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Saturday June 17 at 10 a.m. (Possible performances July 14.)
Tuition $150.

Learn the physical and vocal acting techniques needed to keep a large audience of children engaged for a 45 to 60-minute production as you work alongside current ECTC Theatre for Young Audiences actors. Work with the talented ECTC director/professional teaching artist Darla Briganti on the Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) production of “Peter Pan.” This camp culminates in a public performance for children. (Limited spots available.) Bring a water and snack for half-day classes and a water, snack and a lunch for full-day classes.

So, You Wanna Do Shakespeare? — Middle/High School Workshop
ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach
June 19-21 Monday through Wednesday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Tuition $150.

In this workshop kids will discover the keys to unlocking Shakespeare’s works. The answers to performing Shakespeare are hidden within the works themselves, and half of the fun of Shakespeare is hunting for those answers. In this workshop we will tackle some of his most beautiful poetry and sonnets. Apply the discoveries you make during this camp to any of Shakespeare’s works. The camp will end with a public performance. Bring a water, snack and lunch each day.

The Freedom of Improvisation Middle School/High School Workshop
ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach
June 26-28, Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Tuition $150.

The idea of “improvisation” is often surrounded with a lot of mystery. Why do we do it? Why are some people better at it than others? Does it really help you become a better actor? In this workshop through a series of exercises and games we will explore how improvisation can be a great tool to take your acting to a whole new level. Along the way we will discover that improvisation can be beneficial and enjoyable for everyone.
