Local Realtor, Hannah Martin 3rd Annual Birthday Bash Raises $65,000 for Special Olympics Florida — Walton County
SANTA ROSA BEACH, FLA. (March 31, 2017) – Broker Associate, Hannah Martin of The Premier Property Group announced today her “La Lumière: A Masquerade Affair”, presented by Destin Plastic Surgery and Duckies Shop of Fun, raised $65,000 for Special Olympics Florida — Walton County.
“I have always dreamt big, but I never thought this event would come to fruition in the way that it has,” said Hannah Martin. “It is a true testament to the strength of friends, family, and this incredibly giving community. My heart is humbled with the joy and the support these athletes have received. They are beautiful individuals that I am incredibly proud to stand with.”
Hosted on February 10, 2017, at St. Joe Club & Resorts’ WaterColor LakeHouse, the 3rd Annual event drew crowds of over 400 in support of the area’s local Special Olympics athletes. The funds raised by La Lumière help cover costs for sports equipment and uniforms along with travel, meals and lodging to area and state competitions, held in Orlando. Additionally, the local Special Olympics are working to provide new equipment to the athletes. Currently Walton County Special Olympics athletes compete in aquatics, basketball, bocce, bowling, golf, powerlifting, soccer, softball, stand up paddle, surfing and tennis.
“We continue to be overwhelmed by the love and support our program and our athletes have received from the Walton County community,” said Mike Schumacher, Special Olympics Florida – Walton County Fundraising Chair. “Each year we are blown away by the number of people that step up to volunteer and donate. These funds support the important work of our program in Walton County, and allows for the program to expand reaching more Special Needs individuals and their families.”
The annual birthday bash was started in 2014 after Martin’s mentor and business partner, Jimbo Holloway, approached her about raising seed money for Special Olympics Florida — Walton County. Since it’s conception the party has raised nearly $140,000.
The masquerade themed night of giving included live music by Mr. Big and The Rhythm Sisters, Cirque du Soleil style performers, a choreographed dance by Thi Bod Fitness Group Boomtown Burlesque, oysters on the half shell by 30A Oyster, catering by Signature Catering 30A, wine, cocktails, local brews from Idyll Hounds Brewing Company, craft vodka from Pickers Vodka, and two interactive photo booths courtesy of Epic Photo Co.
Thanks to the generous donation of area businesses the night of giving boasted a live auction, casino themed raffles and an impressive silent auction including local art, private catered dinners and luxurious getaways including a weeklong stay at Tucker’s Point in Bermuda, donated by Royal Destinations and Elite Alliance.
