MARY ESTHER — A man being detained on drug charges, who initially denied knowing where the drugs and vaporizer in his car came from, told deputies, “I guess you shouldn’t buy a vaporizer from a guy outside a drug store” as he was being arrested.
According to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, on Jan. 22 authorities responded to a disturbance call at a home on Bryn Mawr Blvd. in Mary Esther and made contact with the 30-year-old man. After completing an interview with him, a deputy told him he could wait in his car as he interviewed another person involved in the disturbance.
When the deputy returned to the car, he noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. The man said he didn’t know why the deputy could smell marijuana as there was none in his vehicle. He added he smoked marijuana, but again repeated there was none in his car.
The deputy searched the car anyways and discovered a black vaporizer which contained approximately one gram of THC wax, a marijuana derivative. He also located a metal tool in the center console which also had THC wax on the end of it.
After being detained, the deputy again asked what was in the vaporizer and what he used the tool for. The man said he didn’t know who either item belongd to.
As the deputy was testing the substance, the man told another deputy, “I guess you shouldn’t buy a vaporizer from a guy outside a drug store.”
The man was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug equipment possession.
