PANAMA CITY BEACH — A 17-year-old girl from Georgia was killed Saturday night after the Florida Highway Patrol said she jumped from a moving vehicle.
Troopers say 41-year-old Sabino Moreno Silva, 41, of Lithonia, Ga., was driving a 2010 Ford F-150 eastbound along Hutchison Boulevard with the teenager, also from Lithonia and who has not been identified, in the front passenger seat.
As the truck approached Alf Colman Road, she opened the vehicle door and jumped out onto the roadway and hit the ground, causing serious bodily injury. She was transported to Bay Medical Sacred Heart at around 9 p.m., where she died from her injuries.
According to FHP reports, alcohol was not a factor in the accident, and charges are pending.
