Visitor from Mississippi was spotted floating unresponsive in the Gulf of Mexico near the Henderson Beach Inn.

DESTIN — A man who was pulled from the Gulf of Mexico near the Henderson Beach Inn on Saturday afternoon has died.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement on its Facebook page. The 43-year-old Mississippi man had a faint pulse when he was taken to Destin Emergency Room, officials said Saturday.
A call about a distressed swimmer was received at 1:14 p.m. and rescuers responded to the scene. The man was spotted floating unresponsive in the Gulf in the area of 2700 Scenic Highway 98 around 1:14 p.m.
The man’s name has not yet been released. The Sheriff’s Office said the death is considered an apparent drowning but an autopsy will be conducted.
