SHALIMAR – The Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners has declared April 24 Mia Manganello Day throughout the county.
The commission formally made the declaration honoring Manganello, who earned a spot on the United States Olympic speed skating team and a bronze medal in the 2018 Winter Games, at a meeting on April 17.
Although Manganello, a Crestview native, has largely been speed skating, she began her path to the Olympics at a roller rink in her hometown, according to a press release from Okaloosa County. She also competes in cycling competitions.
Chairman Graham Fountain will award Manganello with a proclamation on April 24 at 10 a.m. at Warriors’ Hall in Crestview, the release said.
The chairman will be joined by Crestview city officials as he makes the presentation.
