DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla—Walton County Fire Rescue firefighters knock down a massive residential fire alongside Argyle Volunteer Fire Department and Liberty Volunteer Fire Department in DeFuniak Springs.
Just before 12:00 PM on Monday, September 17, 2018, Walton County Fire Rescue crews responded to a 911 call in reference to a structure fire at 153 Wits-End Lane in DeFuniak Springs. Firefighters and paramedics arrived on scene to find flames engulfing a large brick home.

For over four hours, Walton County Fire Rescue and Liberty Volunteer firefighters assisted Argyle Volunteer Fire Department in fighting the flames. The fire was eventually knocked down just before 4:00 PM. Fortunately, no residents or family pets were inside the home at the time of the fire.
Lightning is believed to be the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents of the severely damaged home.
