The Henderson Beach Resort and Spa’s Inaugural Sweet Sunday Event Raises $3,000 for The Sonder Project

On Sunday, September 16, The Henderson Beach Resort and Spa hosted their first Sweet Sunday signature event anchored by The Honey Hutch. The inaugural event showcased the importance of saving the bees in our environment, celebrated local artisans, and most importantly, raised a total of $3,000 for The Sonder Project.

Sweet Sunday showcased a wide variety of artisans and vendors from around the Emerald Coast, centered around The Honey Hutch, a mission driven company founded by Destin local, Amy Wright. The merchandise sold ranged from handmade jewelry, specially-made bikinis, and artwork to organic popsicles, vintage coats, and succulent plants.  Families and furry friends gathered on The Henderson lawn which was festively decorated with honey-colored balloons provided by Mingle, as they sipped and strolled their way through the various tents. Honey-themed cocktails, served by Then Henderson’s Primrose restaurant, kept guests cool throughout the September afternoon, which perfectly paired with the assorted lunch options provided by Then Henderson’s Horizons restaurant.

Through generous donations from event goers, ticket sales from the grand prize raffle, and donations from the participating vendors, Sweet Sunday raised $3,000 for The Sonder Project, a global non-profit charity focused on education, clean drinking water, deworming, and honey bee related agriculture.  The money raised will directly benefit The Sonder Project’s efforts in West Africa, as they continue to build irrigation systems, wells, and ensure food security and clean water for entire communities.

Due to the success of the event and high demand from vendors who wish to participate, The Henderson Beach Resort and Spa will host specialty themed Sweet Sunday events in the future. If you would like to participate in Sweet Sunday, please emailcaroline@proffittpr.com.

The Henderson Beach Resort and Spa would like to thank the vendors who participated in Sweet Sunday as well as those who donated services to the event including 30A Barks, A.A.
