While Spring Break 2020 hasn’t been filled with sunny beach days, prospective homebuyers touring homes and festive events, it has revealed the true spirit of our community and our commitment to work together for the best possible outcome. In the wake of COVID-19 and official orders from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for all Floridians to stay home for 30 days beginning April 3rd, our agents and staff have been redefining what the business of real estate looks like during these times and working creatively and innovatively to be able to assist our customers no matter the situation.

What do Stay-At-Home Orders mean for real estate?

Residential and commercial real estate, including settlement services, are considered an essential business. Our agents are abiding by COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and limiting the public to exposure. Virtual and online video tours are a great way to view properties while Zoom or other media platforms make it easy to “meet” with your realtor to discuss your needs. Contracts can be executed electronically, allowing all parties to remain apart and minimize any risk.

We are still open, working remotely, taking listings, assisting homebuyers and negotiating purchase agreements. Closing companies and banks are also open and servicing homebuyers. We can still help you achieve your Northwest Florida home buying goals during these unprecedented times with as little risk as possible.

What do the orders mean to Florida residents and visitors?

Local governments and tourism departments for Okaloosa, Walton, Bay, Gulf and Franklin counties are urging visitors to cancel their plans to enter the state and for all to eliminate any unnecessary travel.

This graphic from the Walton County Sheriff’s Office depicts many of the do’s and don’ts with the executive order but we recommend you visit individual counties for further information (linked below) regarding COVID-19 closures and regulations.
