EMERALD COAST THEATRE COMPANY RESUMES IN-PERSON ON-SITE SUMMER CAMP 2020 PROGRAMS IN MIRAMAR BEACH, DEFUNIAK SPRINGS AND PANAMA CITY
ECTC activates CDC safety protocol plan
Miramar Beach, Fla. Emerald Coast Theatre Company re-opens its doors for Summer Camp 2020. In addition to the online Summer Camp programs now underway, ECTC has released the schedule for in-person, on-site classes, workshops and lessons designed for various age groups that range from preschool aged children through 12th grade high schoolers. Tuition ranges from $40 to $395 per student depending on the program. Sibling, military and multiple camp discounts are provided; payment plans and scholarships available for group camps/classes.
“We have had a ball with our innovative online offerings this spring, but we are thrilled to be able to reconnect with our parents and theater-loving kids for the 2020 Summer Camp season,” said ECTC co-founder and producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher. “The safety and well-being of everyone in our ECTC tribe always comes first, so we are carefully activating our Safety Protocol plan in accordance with CDC guidelines.”
ECTC programs are held at its performance space located at 560 Grand Boulevard in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin in Miramar Beach. Additional off-site locations are Florida Chautauqua Theatre, located at 840 Baldwin Ave. in DeFuniak Springs and Gulf Coast State College, located at 5230 US-98, Panama City.

Designed specifically for our youngest players, our Little Rascals camps focus on activities that allow students to explore acting, singing, and movement in an energetic, nurturing environment that fosters creativity and collaboration. Get sprinkled with fairy dust and fly off to Never Neverland with us this summer. This is a non-musical one-week camp for all those pirates and mermaids out there who want to go on adventures with Peter, Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, and other memorable characters in this classic tale of wonder and imagination. This camp offers great parts for boys and girls. Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a final performance on the last day of camp. Tuition $195.
Camp Showtime Grades 2-12 June 8-12, Disney Broadway, ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach June 29-July 3, Comedy Capers, ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach July 13-17, Disney Broadway, Florida Chautauqua Theatre, DeFuniak Springs
This week-long camp focuses on Broadway music and choreography from popular musical numbers as well as theater games, improvisation and watching classic musicals on film. Let the rhythm get you as you act, sing and dance your heart out to popular Broadway numbers. Watch out parents, we’ll wow you with a performance on the last day of camp. Monday through Friday with a final performance on the last day of camp. Tuition $150-$170.
Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR Grades 2-12 July 13-24, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach July 20-31, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Gulf Coast State College, Panama City
Final Performances: (ECTC) Friday, July 24 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and (GCSC) Friday, July 31 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Note: parents will take their students with them after the afternoon performance is over and then return at 6 p.m. for a 7 p.m. encore performance.
Journey under the sea with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR, adapted from Disney’s Broadway production and the motion picture. Disney’s The Little Mermaid JR is an exciting musical theatre production with an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance. This show offers lots of great parts for boys and girls. Let your imagination run wild with this underwater classic that is fun for everyone. Monday through Friday for two weeks (skipping Saturday and Sunday) with final performances the last Friday of camp. Tuition $395 (payments available).
Film Camp Grades 5-12 July 6-10, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach July 27-31, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Florida Chautauqua Theatre, DeFuniak Springs
Students learn to write, direct, and act during the process of creating a one minute film. This is a fun, fast paced class for any aspiring filmmakers out there — or anyone who loves a good movie. The week ends with an Oscar-style ceremony and screening of everyone’s masterpieces. Monday through Friday for one week. Tuition $195.
ADVANCED CAMPS & WORKSHOPS
Creative Theatre Games Grades 3-5 Saturday, June 20, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach
Participating in Theatre Games is a great way to learn valuable acting (and life) skills! Through warm-up exercises, creative performance games and basic short-form scene-work, students will learn how to be more spontaneous, trusting and cooperative and how to listen in a fun, creative atmosphere. Say “yes” to this workshop and see where it takes you. Class Presentation for family and friends at 12:30 p.m. Tuition $40.
FUNdamentals of Improv Grades 6-12 Saturday, June 20, 2-5 p.m. ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach
Learn the basics of improvisation. Discover how to actively listen, to use your own life to create stories, and work on the fundamental principles of improvisation. The class will focus on team building and the concept that “If your teammate looks good, then you will look good.” Emphasis will be placed on understanding and utilizing basic scene work skills and most importantly, having fun. Lots of laughs and lots of “stage” time. Class Presentation for family and friends at 4:30 p.m. Tuition $40.
Techies Rule Grades 5-12 July 13-17, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach
Get hands-on experience with set building, set painting, prop making, stage management and costume construction. This camp is a great introduction to all the behind-the-scenes magic that goes into producing a show. Work alongside ECTC’s Technical Director, Stage Manager and Costume Designer as you learn about everything that happens backstage. Campers will assist with the technical elements of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Camp. Tuition $150.
Musical Theatre Workshop Grades 6-12 June 22-26, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. ECTC at Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach
Musical theatre actors improve their craft through training in acting, voice, and movement/dance. This week-long workshop will have master classes in all three skills: activating songs using acting techniques, study of vocal techniques that enhance singing, choreography and movement for the stage. This fun, high energy workshop will culminate in a fantastic cabaret performance for friends and family. Tuition $175.
Advanced Acting and Vocal Techniques Grades 5-12 July 14-30 Six 30-minute individual Coaching Sessions scheduled with the Instructor
Strengthen your existing skills as an actor and singer as you learn the secrets of what makes a great performer. This three-week class includes group and individual instruction time focusing not just on technique, but also preparation skills such as memorization, subtext study and journaling. Tuition $160.
Private Vocal Lessons Four one-hour long sessions $240 Individual Lesson Scheduled with the Instructor
Peter Lake is an internationally performing opera and musical theatre performer finishing his doctorate in vocal performance and pedagogy. Lake welcomes students all levels of vocal experience and tailors his lessons and style of teaching to the individual needs and goals of each student. Lake works from the basis that everyone is capable of learning and thus his method works to instill intuitive muscle coordination and mental concentration to produce a technique that will feel natural to the singer. His ultimate goal in teaching singing is to help the singer communicate, to use technical training to allow the singer to reach their own goals, and to develop a strong love for music as one of the great joys in life.
