FREEPORT, Fla. (June 17, 2021) – Owl’s Head Farms, the master plan community in Walton County located at 11285 US Hwy. 331, is set to break ground on Thursday, July 1 at 10 a.m. The entire community is invited to join in the celebration.
Founded on the basis of a peaceful, sustainable, relaxed lifestyle, the 1,000-acre Owl’s Head Farms property was previously a sod farm and American Indian territory. Owl’s Head Farms is also surrounded by thousands of acres of preserved land including the Nokuse Preservation and Eglin Air Force Base. The future community is only 20 minutes from the beaches along 30A and is in close proximity to various schools, shopping, and dining options, making it a prime location for homeowners and visitors alike.
“I’ve always loved the area for its natural beauty and location,” said investor and developer, Doug Duncan. “The land is accessible, in the center of Walton County, but tucked away from the congestion and density of the busy beaches. I think it adds such value that the land sits in such close proximity to the beach and bay and to many fun, family friendly activities nearby.”
The new housing and lifestyle development will feature 660 lots and is set to be completed in five phases. The first phase will include houses by DR Horton, America’s largest home builder. Owners of these homes will enjoy full access to various amenities. In addition to homes being offered by DR Horton, the community is planned to offer apartments, townhomes and senior living. Aside from residential living, the Owl’s Head Farms community will feature commercial and industrial space.
“I envision a community where residents can live, work, play and fully enjoy all the community will offer,” Douglas said. “I believe with the development of Owl’s Head Farms, additional schools and businesses will be created in the area, offering hundreds of jobs. I also see additional police, fire and EMT in the region to support the development, making it a very safe and desirable place to be.”
The community is invited to the official groundbreaking ceremony of Owl’s Head Farms on Thursday, July 1 at 10 a.m. to help welcome the new development to Walton County. Guests will meet at the sales center, located at 11285 US Hwy. 331, to enjoy live music by The Luke Langford Band, lunch and refreshments by Back Beach Barbecue, special gifts, and a commemorative flag raising ceremony with the national anthem by Sarah Anne Davidson.
