Named by popular vote, the St. Joe Company recently announced that its new restaurant in Panama City’s waterfront district will be called Harrison’s Kitchen and Bar. After having enlisted the local community to nominate and vote on names, “Harrison’s” received the most support in final voting. The name honors both the early name of the town that ultimately became Panama City, and Harrison Avenue, the road that runs through the heart of downtown and to the restaurant.
The company has also chosen to incorporate the Panama City Marina’s history into the restaurant’s aesthetic with brick construction, wood floors, and industrial accents. It has open spaces and large windows that frame enchanting views of the St. Andrews Bay, and the menu offerings will also reflect the historic location with dishes inspired by traditional Southern flavors and fresh gulf seafood.
Customers can expect to enjoy outdoor dining at the waterfront restaurant with both covered and open patio seating. Inside, a large oval bar will provide a focal point while outside bonus space will include a fireplace and room for games within the restaurant’s garden walls.
“A city’s downtown is part of its history and its lifeblood,” says Jorge Gonzalez, President & CEO of The St. Joe Company in a press release about the new restaurant. “We think it’s fitting not only that the name chosen represents this area’s heritage, but also that the people of Panama City and Bay County helped to choose it. We want to create an anchor business that assists in the revitalization of downtown Panama City, but just as importantly, we hope Harrison’s will be a place where people come to relax, to enjoy good food, to meet friends and make memories.”
The restaurant is expected to open in the fall of 2022. Harrison’s Kitchen & Bar will be located at 5 Harrison Avenue in Panama City, FL. Keep up with progress and news by following on Facebook at www.facebook.com/harrisonskitchenandbar.
