A long-standing community institution is once again investing in Shalimar’s youngest learners.

Shalimar Library & Thrift Shop presented a $3,000 donation to Shalimar Elementary School during a check presentation held on Thursday, February 12, on the school’s campus.

Attending the presentation were members of the Shalimar Library Board of Directors, Mark Franks, Principal Amy Klugh, and school administrators.

Of the total donation, $2,000 will go directly toward supporting the school’s library, while the remaining $1,000 will be used at the principal’s discretion to assist students with classroom supplies.

“Our town library has always been more than just a building with books. It’s a place of curiosity, learning, and opportunity,” said Franks. “This generous contribution to Shalimar Elementary is an investment not just in programs or materials, but in the future of our children.”

Klugh said the funds will help meet practical needs while also strengthening the school’s academic resources.

“Thanks to our Shalimar community and leadership, your generous support of your library fuels learning for kids,” Klugh said. “With these funds, we will be able to support purchasing student supplies for those in need. We will also use the funds to purchase needed materials in our library.”

Superintendent Marcus Chambers also praised the partnership, calling it an example of the strong connection between local organizations and area schools.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Shalimar Library & Thrift Shop for their continued commitment to our students,” Chambers said. “Community partnerships like this strengthen our schools and ensure our children have access to the resources they need to succeed.”

The Shalimar Library & Thrift Shop has served the community since 1996, offering books and affordable thrift items, with proceeds directly supporting library operations and local initiatives.
