NICEVILLE, Fla. — Niceville High School is gearing up to bring energy, music, and a powerful message to the stage with its upcoming production of Footloose, set for multiple performances in May.
Based on the iconic 1984 film, the musical follows Ren McCormack, a Chicago teenager who moves to a small town where dancing is banned. As he pushes back against the rules, Ren inspires his classmates and the community to embrace self-expression and rediscover joy.
The production features dynamic choreography by Nicci Fahle and vocal direction by Madison Gomez, paired with a soundtrack packed with recognizable hits like “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and “Footloose.”
Behind the scenes, students have spent months preparing every detail of the show, from rehearsals to set design and technical production. The effort reflects the dedication of Niceville High School’s performing and technical arts programs.
The show is directed by NHS Theatre Director Ritchie Jackson, who says the story carries a deeper message.
“This production showcases the incredible talent and dedication of our students,” Jackson said. “Footloose is not just about dancing, it’s about finding your voice and making a difference.”
Performances will take place on May 1, 2, 8, and 9 at the Niceville High School auditorium. Friday shows begin at 7 p.m., with 2 p.m. matinees scheduled for Saturdays.
Tickets are available in advance at gofan.co, with general admission at $15 and VIP at $20. VIP tickets include early seating, a complimentary bottle of water, and a bag of popcorn.
The production is presented through a special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
Community members are encouraged to attend what promises to be a lively and inspiring performance by local student talent.
