LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Selfish drivers ruin the roads

Before you salute the other driver, just take a second and figure out what that gesture will solve.

Why has driving become such a hassle? Sure, there are more cars on the road than 50 years ago, but we have more roadways now. Our cars are safer and more comfortable.

I believe it is the drivers who have changed. What once was politeness and cooperation has turned into “me-first” and competition — every driver on the road does it wrong except us. Drivers just won’t get out of our way and the car behind us is tailgating. They don’t understand; I have a right to be in that lane. I’ll show that schmuck. Don’t they know who they are messing with?

Before you salute the other driver, just take a second and figure out what that gesture will solve. While you are getting angry and reaching the boiling point, the other driver is having a nice day.
