WALTON COUNTY — Walton County School District named its 2017-18 Teacher of the Year and Educational Support Professional of the Year.
Joan Kennett, a 5-year South Walton High School biology teacher and 27-year veteran teacher, was announced Wednesday as the district’s Teacher of the Year.
In the spring of 2017, Kennett’s students scored 97 percent and ranked 5th in the state on the biology state test, according to her biography. Kennett focuses on hands-on activities and STEM related studies.
Renee Patrick, an Exceptional Student Education paraprofessional, was announced as the Walton County Educational Support Professional of the Year.
Patrick has worked for the Walton County School District nearly 13 years at Bay Elementary, Paxton School, Walton Vocational School and now Walton County High School.
Patrick, according to her biography, teaches her special needs students that whatever issues they face, she and her students will conquer them together.
