DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A 69-year-old garbage truck driver was seriously injured after driving his garbage truck off the road Monday afternoon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 1:15 p.m. on Feb. 5, Danny Haney of Laurel Hill was traveling west on C.R. 1084 at Tyson Lane when he traveled off the roadway onto the west shoulder. He then overcorrected, driving back onto the road and crossing both lanes of traffic before overturning on the east shoulder. His truck came to a rest facing east.
Haney was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center with serious injuries. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
