A Northwest Florida woman was killed early Saturday morning in a crash that saw her car go airborne and slam into a tree.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, 23-year-old Kaitlin Nicole Neese of Cantonment was traveling west on County Road 279A in Escambia County at the time of the 6:30 a.m. fatal crash.

In the release FHP said Neese’s 1996 Saturn SL ran off the roadway and continued along the right shoulder. Neese overcorrected, re-entered the roadway and crossed over the center line heading southwest.

The Saturn ran off the roadway to the left, colliding with a ditch and going airborne. The car then slammed into a tree in the front yard of a home along C.R. 297A.

The vehicle came to a final rest on its left side.

FHP noted Neese was wearing a seat belt and it was unknown if alcohol was a factor in the fatal crash.
