Elderly Canadian man identified as drowning victim

PANAMA CITY BEACH — Panama City Beach police have identified the body that washed up on Panama City Beach as Nevio Visovich, an 83-year-old Canadian citizen.

At about 5:10 p.m. Sunday, Panama City Beach Police and Fire Rescue responded to a call of an unresponsive male in the surf behind AquaVista Condominiums, 17155 Front Beach Road.

The victim was identified my family members, according to a press release from PCBPD who, had already notified police of his absence and started a search.

The official cause of death is under investigation and will be determined at a later date by the Medical Examiner’s office, but in release, police referred to it as a drowning.

Surf conditions were light on Sunday evening and yellow flags were flying.
