FREEPORT, Fla — Firefighters knock down flames engulfing part of a single-story home in Freeport.

Just before 9:15 PM on Saturday, July 6, 2019, a 911 call promptly dispatched Walton County Fire Rescue and Walton County Sheriff’s Office to a home on Shangrila Lane in reference to a structure fire. When deputies arrived on scene, they found part of the residence fully engulfed in flames, threatening an occupied camper trailer on the property. Firefighters arrived within minutes and quickly began battling the blaze.

Within just 23 minutes, Walton County Fire Rescue firefighters had extinguished the flames consuming the vacant home. Fortunately, the nearby camper was not damaged and no one was injured in the fire.

 

The fire is believed to have been caused by a generator supplying power to the onsite camper catching fire. Firefighters cleared the scene at 1:00 AM.
