Mexico Beach continues to recover post Hurricane Michael, and one killer part of the community is now back! Residents and visitors were excited to welcome the return of beloved seafood joint Killer Seafood just in time for the new year.
Visitor Mike Benefield was quoted as saying, “It has to be here. It’s not Mexico Beach without Killer Seafood.”
The restaurant’s brick and mortar was completely destroyed by the hurricane, but the storm couldn’t take away owner Kevin Crouse’s determination to return to business. After opening in 2003, Killer Seafood became a fast area favorite with a reputation for delicious and authentic local seafood.
Over 100 people gathered for the reopening of the restaurant in a mobile kitchen with an outside seating area.
Crouse credits the close knit Mexico Beach community with his ability to return. In an interview, he said, “I kind of have to pinch myself. Once we had the support of the community there was no looking back, and what this shows me today is that we still have the support and we’re going to do everything we can to you know provide and help bring Mexico Beach back.”
