A celebratory groundbreaking took place on Tuesday, May 3 to mark the commencement of construction on the new permanent facility for The Point Washington Medical Clinic (PWMC).
The PWMC staff, Board of Directors and volunteer team are all excited for what this building means for the growing roster of patients as well as the greater Northwest Florida region. For the past five years, operating only two days a week, they have saved the community over $2.5 million in healthcare services and have had over 12,000 office visits.
They project this new building will increase accessibility to their programming by 300% as well as allow them to add additional services including dentistry, new specialists, and pediatric exam rooms. Further, they will be able to honor one of their main objectives; health education. This will be possible through the use of their new teaching kitchen and meeting room.
Once the clinic is up and running in the new facility, they expect to be able to see close to 10,000 patients annually providing over 1 million dollars in healthcare services a year.
“We are digging deeper into the clinic’s mission to build a healthier and stronger community by LITERALLY starting to build,” said Dr. Hillary Glenn, DNP and Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Point Washington Medical Clinic. “Thank you all for coming out to celebrate this momentous occasion, not only for the clinic, but for our entire community.”
The new building will be located on the Point Washington United Methodist Church campus in Point Washington. The building was designed by Zack Quinn and will be built by Woodruff Construction.
A fundraising campaign continues to support construction. Those interested in contributing to the building campaign can visit thepwmc.org to learn more and make a donation. The PWMC is grateful to everyone who has played a part in helping to realize their ambitious goal of bringing “Radically Inclusive Healthcare” to Northwest Florida.
