The South Walton Fire District is asking for the community’s help in fighting hunger ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday by hosting the first SWFD Heroes Against Hunger Food Drive.
Northwest Florida residents can bring nonperishable and/or canned food items to any of the five SWFD fire station locations through November 18, during the hours of 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Bins have been placed at each fire station for drop-off.
All food items collected will be donated to local charities.
“For this first annual Food Drive, we’re hopeful our community members will step up as they always do,” said SWFD Fire Chief Ryan Crawford. “Their generosity is unprecedented, not only in how they treat their local first responders, but also in how they give back to others in need. You do not have to be a South Walton resident to participate in this, just someone who wants to make a difference alongside us.”
Anyone with questions about the Food Drive is encouraged to contact SWFD at 850-267-1298 or via email at info@swfd.org.
