Crosswalk Murals Will Bring Color to the Streets of Panama City

Photos courtesy of the Bay Arts Alliance The streets of Panama City will soon shine a little brighter! Bay Arts Alliance has partnered with the City of Panama City (@thecityofpanamacitygovt), Quality of Life (@pc_qualityoflife), and the Panama City Downtown Improvement Board to complete the first of many crosswalks in Historic Downtown Panama City.  The first mural “A Bloom with a View” by Jennifer Honeycutt was recently completed at the intersection of E. 4th Street and Luverne Avenue behind the Center for the Arts. Loosely based on a Monarch butterfly’s perspective, this design includes abstract layers of saturated Milkweed flowers over Fiddlehead ferns, accented with Monarch caterpillars. Honeycutt drew inspiration from the beautiful Monarch mural on the Bay Arts Alliance building and the fact that butterflies see in ultraviolet and polarized light. Honeycutt is a Florida-based artist/designer who has resided in Panama City Beach since 2020. A graphic designer by trade, she enjoys exploring multiple artistic mediums. A self-proclaimed tree hugger, Honeycutt is equally passionate about art and environmental studies which is often evident in her work. In her spare time, she can be found exploring nature with friends, family, and her dog, Chuck. Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center 23rd Gala in the Garden and Golf Weekend 2022 Gala – Friday – March 10 – 5:30 p.m. Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa Golf – Sunday – March 12 – Noon Kelly Plantation Golf Club The Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (ECCAC) is putting on their annual signature Gala in the Garden and Golf Weekend, this year presented by George and Janice Hendricks. The Gala features a cocktail hour starting at 5:30 p.m., with dinner being served at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa. Guests will enjoy dinner and live entertainment by popular local musicians, The Will Thompson Band, live auction, as well as a featured guest speaker. The Gala is an energetic, yet important ECCAC fundraiser to benefit children by providing services at no cost to help identify, treat and support child victims in abusive situations.
