BRINGING HEALTHCARE BACK HOME; CHANGES ON THE HORIZON FOR 911/EMS SERVICES IN WALTON COUNTY BEGINNING AUGUST 1ST

BRINGING HEALTHCARE BACK HOME; CHANGES ON THE HORIZON FOR 911/EMS SERVICES IN WALTON COUNTY BEGINNING AUGUST 1ST Posted on July 25, 2022 WALTON COUNTY, FLA –  There are no wailing sirens or bright lights, but when Paramedic Ashley Dumont arrives for a home visit, she brings a shining smile with her med bag and stethoscope. Walton County Fire Rescue is one of the first in the state to introduce a Community Paramedicine Program. The fire-rescue organization serves residents and visitors north of the Choctawhatchee Bay in Walton County. Community Paramedics are trained, licensed paramedics who respond to certain pre-determined EMS calls for service to visit with patients and provide care. Until this month, Dumont acted as the sole community paramedic before the program expanded adding another in Lindsey Timpano. But a prescription for additional changes has been filled as the agency looks to change the response to 911 calls for medical services. The Community Paramedicine Program provides a continuity of care for those seeking medical attention who previously relied on the emergency room for primary medical care. They would simply call 911 and get transported to a local hospital. “A lot of people believe calling 911 is their only option,” said Timpano, who’s been with Walton County Fire Rescue since September of 2020. “With the Community Paramedicine Program, we are giving them another avenue to receive care and build better relationships with those patients – it’s more one-on-one.” Between her and Dumont, the pair have more than 15 years of... Children’s Advocacy Center severely damaged

It was a good news, bad news scenario when a fire occurred at the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center’s (ECCAC) 23 year old location in Niceville that provides healing and protection to area children experiencing abuse and neglect. ECCAC’s CEO, Julie Porterfield commented, “We are just incredibly sad and devastated that our Niceville Center suffered significant damage Saturday, July 16th. Although there was much water damage from the fire sprinkler system, it prevented a what could have been a devastating fire. As heartbroken as I feel and fighting back the tears, I am thanking God for His saving grace – it could have been so much worse. We may be down, but will rise above the water. We know the days ahead will be long. We will need the community’s help to restore the joy, the cheeriness, the hope the Center once held.” Recently, ECCAC announced an upcoming expansion to the Niceville Center. Now they are looking at achieving that, as well as a complete renovation of the existing building that was so severely damaged. The building may be temporarily closed, but ECCAC operations are not, the kids will still be served. The Center doesn’t house children, but is set up with a multidisciplinary team of child protection personnel, prosecutors, law enforcement, DCF, therapists, as well as ECCAC staff and volunteers to provide services to the children in a child-friendly environment. The community support to date has been substantial. As an example, Mike Kay owner of Ocean Views has already... Read More

Things to do in Myakka River State Park in Sarasota

If you’re staying in a vacation rental in the Bradenton Beach, Sarasota, or Siesta Key area, don’t forget to add Myakka River State Park to your vacation to-do list. This massive park is home to literally thousands of alligators, all waiting for their close up—from a safe distance, of course. Myakka River State Park is 58 square miles large and combines prairies with wetlands and pinelands. Running through the park is the Myakka River, perfect for boating, kayaking and fishing. Myakka River State Park was developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and was one of eight state parks in Florida developed by the CCC. Previously, the land for the park was owned by Bertha Palmer, a businesswoman from Chicago who pursued cattle and pig ranching on the land. Fast forward to today, and one major draw for Myakka River State Park is the many, many alligators that call it home. When the weather is warm, you can see alligators swimming along in the river or sometimes sunning themselves not far from shore. Keep your distance, of course, and use the closeup function on your camera phone or a telephoto lens on a nice camera to snap some nice shots. During Sarasota’s busiest season, it’s not uncommon to find tourists speaking several different languages stopped in clumps to gaze at gators and snap pics to share with others.  Another great way to learn about the park is with its boat and tram rides. The boats will take... Read More

More than half of US advertisers Plan to Increase Spending on Streaming TV

Investment and optimism for connected TV (CTV) advertising are high and continuing to rise fueled by its ability to precision target and achieve full-funnel brand goals, says research released by Advertiser Perceptions and Premion (Source Rapid TV News) READ FULL ARTICLE Nearly three-fifths (56%) of advertisers said the ability to precision target audiences was the top reason for increasing CTV/OTT spending in 2022, and almost 70% of advertisers agreed that CTV/OTT allowed them to target audiences locally in ways that are not possible with traditional TV. One in two advertisers used impressions and increase in brand awareness to evaluate campaign ROAS (return on ad spend). “Advertisers have embraced CTV and they’re shifting bigger budgets to the medium as an essential buy for driving brand awareness and performance marketing,” said Premion president Tom Cox commenting on the findings of the survey. “Our study validates that CTV has become an invaluable channel for brand marketers and agencies to follow their audiences, plan with data-driven targeting, and measure with outcomes-based performance. New data capabilities make CTV even more compelling for advertisers to gain a complete understanding of audience behaviors and to connect viewership to direct business results.”     Read More
