School bus involved in Shalimar crash

SHALIMAR — A school bus with one child on board was involved in a traffic crash in Shalimar on Thursday morning.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a school bus driven by 49-year-old Sheila Lewellen of Crestview was traveling westbound on Poplar Avenue at around 9:15 a.m. when it was struck by a car backing out of a private driveway. The car, a 2017 Cadillac XT5, was driven by 77-year-old Linda Martin of Shalimar.

Martin was cited for improper backing.

One child, a 5-year-old girl, was on board the school bus at the time. No injuries to the child, the bus driver or the Cadillac driver were reported, according to the FHP.
