SHALIMAR — A Shalimar woman is in the Okaloosa County Jail following a DUI crash that injured a Fort Walton Beach boy Saturday night.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol press release, Sheila Maureen Dixon, 55, was above the legal limit for alcohol at the time of the 10:35 p.m. crash.

FHP noted in the release that Dixon failed to yield the right of way in her 2008 Dodge Nitro when the incident occurred at the intersection of 9th Avenue and 3rd Street.

Yolanda Clara Lee, 26, of Fort Walton Beach, had entered the intersection, facing east on 9th Avenue, in a 2011 Buick Regal. Dixon was traveling west on 9th Avenue and did not yield the right of way, colliding with the Buick.

Amarius Hodges, 10, was a passenger in the Buick and suffered minor injuries, according to FHP.

Dixon was cited for DUI with property damage and failing to yield the right of way. She remained in the county jail Sunday morning, being held without bond while awaiting first appearance.
