XoXo: An Avenger says Good-Bye…

It appears one member of the original Avengers is ready to hang up his superhero cape…okay, technically he only uses a shield.

Chris Evans announced he has played Captain America for the last time in an emotional tweet directed to fans.

“Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful,” Evans posted this afternoon.

Get ready for tons of fan speculation, as this announcement came just days after production wrapped on Avengers 4. If you witnessed the heart wrenching finale of Avengers: Infinity War, then you know that Cap was one of only a handful of characters to survive Thanos and his Gauntlet of doom. It’s been a popular fan theory for quite some time that both Captain America and Iron Man would meet their end in the fourth installment – most likely in a heroic and world saving fashion (obviously.)

However, even with Evans leaving the franchise, we probably haven’t seen the last of Cap. In the comic book universe both Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) have a go as our favorite patriotic superhero. They may have been made to dust by Thanos at the end Infinity War…but let’s be real, those deaths are not going to last. I mean, Spider-Man and Black Panther?! Who is Marvel trying to fool?!
