As the seasons change and we’re greeted with summer vacationers and warm weather, we’re also greeted with new businesses, menus, renovations and events ready to greet visitors and locals alike in South Walton.

Decadent is a new coffee and dessert bar located in 30Avenue. Serving breakfast, coffee and sweet treats 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday thru Saturday. Closed on Sunday.

Black Bear Bread Co. opened it’s new “Bar Room” next door to their original Black Bear Bread Co.location in The Shops of Grayton in Grayton Beach. The Bar Room offers additional seating for those ordering off the Black Bear Bread Co. menu next door and has a bar that serves up beer and wines from around the world.

Raw & Juicy has officially opened its new location in Alys Beach. The healthy eatery is known for its cold-pressed juices, smoothies and fresh, tasty treats.

Pascalli Kitchen is a new eatery along Scenic Gulf Drive in Miramar Beach. Open Monday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Pascalli’s offers various to-go options, such as salads, sandwiches, tacos and New York-style pizza.

North Beach Tortilla Co., Chef Jim Shirley’s newest restaurant,has opened its doors along the Choctawhatchee Bay and US Hwy. 331 S. North Beach Tortilla Co. boasts 100 tequilas behind the 100-foot beach bar overlooking the Choctawhatchee Bay and 331 Bridge. Enjoy South by Southwestern flavors layered on farm and Gulf-to-table goods. It’s a North Florida taco & tequila joint – a hangout where “Tacos Grow on Trees and Tequila Always Wins.”

Shaka Sushi and Noodle Bar in Inlet Beach is now open. Shaka’s culinary team has created a menu that boasts many righteous rolls, sashimi and nigiri, small plates and entrees, and of course saké, wine and beer. Shaka is open daily from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. inside the Shoppes @ Inlet. Last Call Restaurant Group currently operates Shades Bar & Grill, Southside Slice and Pescado Seafood Grill & Rooftop Bar.

Mezcal Mexican Grill is now offering an updated menu with several new dishes for both lunch and dinner, as well as an expanded happy hour and “Family Fun Nights” every Friday this summer with live outdoor entertainment and specials. New menu items include mussels chorizo, blackened scallop tostadas, zucchini fries and tuna tacos with crispy wanton shells.

First Watch will soon be opening a South Walton location. The new location of the breakfast, brunch, and lunch restaurant will be at the corner of Highway 98 and West Hewett Rd. in Santa Rosa Beach. Construction is expected to begin this summer and the restaurant is expected to open next year.

New Shopping Additions and Renovations:
The Shard Shop is excited to share two new Summer Pop-Up Shops in South Walton. One is located in Grand Boulevard and one in the Village of Baytowne Wharf. Both pop-up locations will be open through Labor Day. The Shard Shop continues to operate a year-round location in the Shops of Grayton in Grayton Beach.

Coast Hippie recently announced the opening of its flagship store in Seagrove Beach, located in the shops of old Seagrove, behind Cowgirl Kitchen and Whiskey Bravo. Be sure to check out the new lifestyle brand created by two local sisters with laid-back clothing, beach accessories, and coastal items for the entire family.

Seascape Wine & Spirits has added craft and domestic beer taps for growler fills at its Seascape Towne Centre location. They have also added new free tasting events every weekend to try the latest and greatest products including Blue Chair Bay rum and many others.

New Accommodation Updates and Renovations:
Alys Beach announces new condominium residences now available for purchase. The Camden & The Whitby condominium residences were designed by Hart Howerton of San Francisco and New York City and overlook Alys Beach’s growing Town Center. Located within walking distance to ZUMA, Alys Beach’s brand-new state-of-the-art wellness center, as well as the town’s private, owners-only Beach Club. The easterly facing four-story residence, The Camden, houses six three-bedroom residences, while the larger residence, The Whitby, will contain a total of 12 residences with a choice of six three-bedroom or six two-bedroom offerings available for purchase. The ground level of both buildings will house a variety of retail, food & beverage, and entertainment offerings.

Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort has broken ground on a new boutique hotel, called the Sandestin Hotel. The new full-service hotel will include a three-meal restaurant, a lobby bar, room service, a luxury spa, a fitness facility and a signature rooftop pool and bar. In addition to these amenities, the four-star hotel will feature over 20,000 feet of meeting space and feature a 13,000 square foot ballroom. Completion is expected in April 2020.

Sandestin also celebrated the ground-breaking of Osprey Pointe in January and construction continues to be on schedule for an early 2020 opening. The new 77-unit condominium complex will offer 2, 3 and 4-bedroom vacation rental properties with stunning views of nature preserve and Choctawhatchee Bay along with exclusive pool and clubhouse amenities. Meanwhile, Sandestin has completed the installation of a new traffic circle at Heron Walk and Baytowne Avenue to improve traffic flow to the Village of Baytowne Wharf and within the resort.

Other Updates and Additions:
Tuk Tuk 30A is a new transportation option in South Walton. The new company began offering shuttle service May 1, 2019. Tuk Tuk 30A operates electric carts that seat up to 6 passengers, offering an eco-friendly transportation option along 30A.

GoVetted Technologies, Inc., a rideshare app company, has opened offices in Santa Rosa Beach. The company, backed by leadership with over 15 years of professional ground transportation experience, will initially provide service between Panama City and Pensacola, including all three airports, Northwest Florida Beaches (ECP), Destin-Fort Walton Beach (VPS), and Pensacola International (PNS).

Construction on the new short game area at the Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club has been completed. An anticipated opening date for members is slated for Sept. 1. Also, the club has recently announced it will undergo a multi-million dollar course renovation, which is expected to break ground the first quarter of 2021.
