The system, named Invest 99L, is currently moving west-northwestward between northern Cuba and the Straits of Florida.

The National Hurricane Center has advised interests in Florida and other eastern Gulf Coast states to monitor the progress of Invest 99L since it is possible that some impacts, at a minimum, heavy rains and gusty winds, will occur over South Florida and the Florida Keys through Sunday. Interests in Florida should also consult advisories issued by their local National Weather Service offices.

Shower and thunderstorm activity associated with Invest 99L remains disorganized. However, NHC forecasters say that environmental conditions could become a little more conducive for development when the system moves into the eastern Gulf of Mexico on Monday. Invest 99L has a 40% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone by Tuesday
