WCSO CAPTAIN GRADUATES FROM SOUTHERN POLICE INSTITUTE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS COURSE

DeFuniak Springs, Fla—Captain Jimmy Fannin has become the fourth graduate of the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course from Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

The Southern Police Institute is an integral part of the Department of Criminal Justice in the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Louisville.

According to their website “This is an advanced educational and training institute whose mission is to enhance the professional development of law enforcement practitioners. Since the creation of the Southern Police Institute in 1951, its program of instruction has been based on the belief that law enforcement is a demanding activity requiring the highest level of professional preparation. The Administrative Officers Course has been offered continuously since 1951. Today, it is our primary leadership development program. It is designed to provide a comprehensive and challenging educational experience that is intended to enhance the professional and personal lives of students.”

Group Graduation

On May 11th Captain Fannin received his diploma as a part of the 137th AOC held at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, which included 47 Graduates representing 39 different agencies from 18 states.

“It’s difficult to be away from family for that amount of time,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “But, this type of leadership through education shows his dedication and commitment to bringing the highest level of professional service to Walton County.”
