Fire damages DeFuniak Springs home

The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, but the residents had escaped and no one was injured.

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — The DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, Walton County Fire Rescue and the Argyle and Liberty Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a house fire at 218 S. 18th St. at 2 a.m. Saturday.

The house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, but the residents had escaped and no one was injured, said Lt. Jerry Hall with the DeFuniak Springs Fire Department. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished.

The American Red Cross was notified to assist the residents. The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
